Poet's Corner
For many years I considered poetry to be a rather lame form of artistic expression. But then I attended a creative writing course in more recent times - which made me realise that i could put my own spin on it, and thus motivated me to write the following bits and pieces:
ME (in "kenning" verse)

Peter Pan
Music fan
Disco bunny
Little money
Slightly lardy
Somewhat tardy
Outlook lofty
Southern softy
MANCHESTER

If someone in Manchester forms a band
Then they’ll likely be feted the length of the land
All they have to do is pick up a guitar
And you can almost predict that they will go far
They even become legends in certain cases
These droves of Mancunian musical faces
A factory conveyor belt of acts that are hailed
Have there ever been any from there that have failed?
Joy Division, New Order, The Fall and The Smiths
Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Buzzcocks, Oasis
The ones that I’ve mentioned are just the biggest
It would take far too long to go through the rest
There must be something in the water it seems
For all these musicians to realise their dreams
If so, then no wonder they all get their way
As it seems to rain there almost every day!
PEER PRESSURE

We had each other in younger days
We have now gone our separate ways
You have loved ones in your hearts
I have music and the arts
You have friends and families
I have dreams and memories
You have climbed the greasy pole
I have dug myself a hole
You have gained prosperity
I have kept integrity
You have bowed to convention
I have no such intention
It seems that you have everything
including kitchen sinks
Whilst I it seems I have nothing
excluding things like shrinks
But…
however hard my life may be
Better that,
than a life of hypocrisy
REGINALD SHITE

Just what in the world does anyone see, in that talentless twat Elton John?
He BAWLS! And he SQUAWKS! And he plays his piano as if he’s got boxing gloves on!
His music? Well, that goes in one ear…and then exits straight out the other
And as for his boat? Then as Arnie might note: he sure is one ugly mutha
That clown wrote the book on just what it took to mask mediocrity
I.e. crazy costumes and whacky specs. But none of that washes with me
You fat slaphead Reg - you set my teeth on edge! Unlike most I’m not led by the nose
Though it tends to annoy, feeling I’m like the boy, in that tale of “The Emperor’s new clothes”!
